Project Summary
The Indian Health Care Resource Center (IHCRC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a comprehensive health and wellness facility dedicated to serving the American Indian community with exceptional, patient-centered care. Guided by a multidisciplinary, medical home approach, the center offers an extensive range of services—including medical, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, dental, optometry, and health and wellness programs—each tailored to meet the unique needs of its patients.
Driven by its mission to empower the American Indian through exceptional healthcare, IHCRC envisioned a space that redefines primary care while fostering connection and trust. The organization’s values of community, accountability, respect, excellence, and stewardship are expressed throughout the design, encompassing everything from the welcoming public areas to the thoughtfully planned clinical and educational spaces.
With a long-term goal to improve overall health and reduce the incidence and severity of chronic disease, the center integrates health promotion, disease prevention, and management programs that encourage active participation and lifelong wellness.
Childers Architect helped bring IHCRC’s vision to life through a culturally mindful and innovative design. The new facility supports holistic healthcare delivery while strengthening community ties, setting a new standard for how architecture can advance the health and well-being of the American Indian population.
