Accounting Manager

Childers Architect is seeking an Accounting Manager for the Fort Smith, AR office. Childers has experienced tremendous growth and is looking to strengthen its accounting and finance function. SUMMARY: Hands on position to produce financial statements, must also have the depth to provide financial analysis and work with key management.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the monthly close process to produce timely, accurate, and valid financial information
  • Work with Managers to review financial information and provide guidance
  • Maintain system of internal controls
  • Oversee and participate in management of accounts receivable
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Perform month end analytical reviews of trial balance accounts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Responsible for budget and forecast process
  • Maintain assigned records and compiles monthly or quarterly reports for local, state, or federal authorities as required
  • Some data entry required
  • Must be able to exercise judgement within broadly defined practices and policies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Customer invoice processing
  • Collections
  • Revenue and related cost of revenue accruals
  • Monthly accounting cycle closing

Skilled in:

  • General ledger management
  • Revenue and cost of revenue accounts and related balance sheet accounts
  • Account reconciliations
  • Directing and supervising staff

Ability to:

  • Think strategically and understand business and forecast trends
  • Implement, manage and maintain multiple processes with an aptitude to learn new systems
  • Implement procedures designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the invoicing process
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in the areas of accounts receivable, collections and revenue recognition

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of proven work experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing or supervising others in a direct reporting relationship
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10 years of proven work experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Proficiency using BQE CORE preferred
