POSITION DESCRIPTION
As a Medical Planner, you will be involved in the planning and design of healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, and other medical spaces locally, regionally and nationally. This role is crucial in creating healthcare environments that are not only functional and efficient but also aligned with the unique requirements of medical practice and patient care. This role involves collaboration with diverse stakeholders and requires a comprehensive understanding of healthcare practices, design principles, and regulatory guidelines. You will assist in identifying project goals, objectives and key drivers along with presentations to administration, physician groups, hospital boards, governmental agencies and other key stakeholders as needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Space Planning: Determining the optimal layout for healthcare facilities to ensure efficient workflow and accessibility for patients, staff, and equipment.

Functional Design: Collaborating with healthcare professionals, architects, and other stakeholders to design spaces that meet the specific needs of medical practitioners and patients.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that healthcare facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and healthcare standards.

Patient Flow: Analyzing and optimizing the movement of patients and staff within the facility to enhance efficiency and reduce wait times.

Technology Integration: Planning for the integration of medical technologies, equipment, and information systems within the facility to support modern healthcare practices.

Accessibility: Ensuring that healthcare facilities are designed to be accessible to individuals with disabilities, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Environmental Considerations: Taking into account factors such as infection control, ventilation, and other environmental considerations that are crucial for maintaining a safe and healthy healthcare environment.

Budgeting & Cost Control: Collaborating with project managers and financial stakeholders to develop and adhere to budgets for construction or renovation projects.

Sustainability: Incorporating sustainable design principles into healthcare facilities to minimize environmental impact and promote energy efficiency.

Project Management: Overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the planning and design process, working closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals to bring the project to fruition.


REQUIREMENTS
Education: Architecture Degree from accredited program, plus Architectural license required
Software: Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, InDesign, Bluebeam Revu and 3D modeling software


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• 5-8 years of experience
• Advanced knowledge of current healthcare planning and programming concepts including patient safety and
evidence-based design principles
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Knowledgeable in sustainable design practices (LEED / WELL)
• Strong leadership, collaborative, organizational and analytical skills
